FINAL WEEKEND

OCT 23rd

The John McIlquham family has been providing the Chippewa Valley with timeless orchard favorites for three generations. The original orchard located on County Hwy OO was purchased in 1924 by John D. McIlquham and his brother James. They operated the orchard together until 1929 when they divided the property into two separate orchards. John D. McIlquham and his wife, Elsie, operated their orchard until 1976 when their son, John J. McIlquham and his wife, Katherine, purchased the property.

In 1964, the orchard on the corner of J&K was purchased by John J. and Katherine McIlquham. John J. and Katherine, along with their three children, made this orchard their home. It was operated as “J&K Orchard” until the purchase of the OO orchard from Grandpa John in 1976. Both orchards together then became known as John McIlquham Orchards. In 2000, John J. and Katherine retired and the OO orchard was sold to the grandson of James McIlquham.

Today, John E. McIlquham, his wife, Marykay, and their two children own and operate the orchard on the corner of Co. Hwy J & K. Sadly, John J. McIlquham passed away in September of 2004 and never saw the reopening of the “J&K Orchard”. Katherine McIlquham, along with John E.’s sister and brother, continues to help out in the day-to-day operation of the family business. The McIlquhams offer visitors 17 varieties of fresh picked apples, including the new Zestar! and Honeycrisp. Pick-your-own apples, pumpkins as well as a FREE corn maze and FREE wagon rides (wagon rides are weekends only - weather permitting) will delight the kids.

In 2005, Autumn Harvest Winery opened at the J & K location as the first winery in the Chippewa Valley. Visitors to the tasting room can enjoy complimentary wine tasting of apple, fruit and grape wines produced and bottled by the McIlquhams. Gourmet food samples, John McIlquham Orchard jams, preserves and apple butters as well as a gift shop are also located on site. They encourage their guest to bring a picnic basket and enjoy the beautiful patio and picnic areas.  Because we are a licensed premises, Wisconsin law and general courtesy prohibits any alcohol carry-in.
